About the International School of Texas In September 2013, The International School of Texas was founded by a group of 13 brave parents who shared a common vision of an exceptional education for their children: one that is marked by free thought, equal opportunity, and the development of our core values of Respect, Integrity, Confidence, Intellect, and Service. Overview The International School of Texas (IST) is seeking a qualified Reading Specialist to provide targeted literacy support to students across Kindergarten through High School. This position plays a key role in strengthening student reading achievement through evidence-based intervention, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with classroom teachers. Key Responsibilities * Provide individualized and small-group reading intervention for students who require additional support. * Deliver structured, multi-sensory instruction aligned with Orton-Gillingham methodologies. * Implement programs such as Take Flight or Basic Language Skills (BLS). * Conduct diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring to guide instruction and measure growth. * Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop accommodations, strategies, and resources for literacy support. * Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to teachers and administrators. * Participate in school-wide literacy initiatives and professional development sessions. Qualifications * CALP or CALT certification preferred. * Training and experience in Orton-Gillingham methodology required; experience with Take Flight and BLS programs strongly preferred. * Demonstrated experience working with diverse age groups (Kindergarten–High School). * Knowledge of assessment tools and data-driven instructional planning. * Strong communication and collaboration skills. * Commitment to IST’s mission of fostering integrity, confidence, and intellect in students.
