Job Title: IT Inventory Specialist (Contract, Onsite)

Location: San Francisco, CA (Onsite)

Duration: 1 Year (August 2025 – August 2026)

Compensation: $75/hour

About the Role:

A fast-paced technology organization is seeking an experienced IT Inventory Specialist to support critical hardware operations. This full-time contractor position focuses on end-to-end IT asset lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, tracking, and recovery. The role requires a strong understanding of inventory systems, vendor coordination, and hands-on technical support for end users.

This is an onsite role based in San Francisco, with occasional travel to satellite locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Vendor Coordination

• Procure IT hardware, peripherals, and ergonomic equipment from approved vendors
• Monitor supply levels and reorder inventory to meet demand
• Evaluate new product offerings and manage vendor relationships
• Process purchase approvals and track vendor invoices

Inventory & Asset Management

• Receive, catalog, and organize equipment using asset management tools
• Maintain well-organized storage facilities and peripheral stock levels across office floors
• Track inventory movement and provide routine reporting to stakeholders
• Maintain up-to-date asset records and documentation

Deployment & End User Support

• Fulfill IT support tickets related to hardware requests and desk setups
• Coordinate hardware shipments for remote employees
• Prepare Mac devices with required configurations and software updates
• Provide basic troubleshooting for hardware and peripheral connectivity issues

Repairs & Lifecycle Management

• Manage repair processes for damaged equipment, including vendor coordination
• Track warranty claims, returns, and repair status
• Wipe, reset, and redeploy returned equipment following company standards
• Support end-of-life equipment decisions and disposal processes

Reporting & Documentation

• Use dashboards and tracking systems to monitor inventory status and lifecycle trends
• Maintain accurate documentation of asset movement and custody
• Generate regular reports on procurement, inventory levels, and asset utilization

Qualifications:

• Proven experience managing IT inventory in corporate environments
• Familiarity with Mac hardware and software tools
• Excellent organization and documentation skills
• Comfortable lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs
• Strong communication and customer service orientation
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with enterprise inventory management platforms
• Knowledge of warranty and repair procedures (Apple and third-party)
• Understanding of basic troubleshooting for desktop peripherals
• Background in logistics, shipping/receiving, or facilities support
• Experience working in high-growth or startup environments
