The Fiber Technician is a specialized role focused on ensuring flawless implementation, splicing, and maintenance of ISP fiber optic systems. The ideal candidate will have a meticulous approach to splicing, an in-depth understanding of fiber infrastructure, and the ability to deliver top-tier performance in diverse environments.

Responsibilities

ISP Fiber Setup and Maintenance

  • Execute precision fiber splicing using tools such as the Fujikura Splicer, ensuring optimal signal integrity and minimal loss.
  • Conduct OTDR Testing to identify faults and verify fiber quality.
  • Perform panel terminations to establish seamless fiber connections.
  • Assemble and install fiber patch panels and organize enclosures with precision and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate on ISP commercial projects, ensuring compliance with project requirements and deadlines.
  • Pull and terminate fiber cables within ISP environments, ensuring pathways are efficient and protected from interference or damage.

Site Handling and Quality Assurance

  • Review and interpret detailed job layouts for efficient fiber routing within ISP facilities.
  • Complete post-installation testing to confirm system performance and reliability.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of fiber layouts, splicing logs, and test results for future reference and troubleshooting.

Teamwork and Client Collaboration

  • Work cohesively with colleagues to deliver on project goals while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues on-site.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in ISP-focused fiber optic splicing, installations, and maintenance.
  • Hands-on expertise with tools such as Fujikura Splicers, OTDR Readers, and other industry-standard testing and splicing equipment.
  • Proficiency in handling CommScope and AFL fiber splicing projects.
  • Ability to independently perform splicing, terminations, and testing in ISP environments.
  • Physical readiness to work in confined indoor spaces, manage equipment up to 65 lbs, and maintain focus in fast-paced settings.
  • Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills, ensuring projects are completed to high-quality standards.
