Buildings & Grounds Maintenance

Job Summary

The Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and improvement of buildings, facilities, and surrounding grounds. This includes performing routine maintenance, landscaping, and minor repairs to ensure the property is safe, functional, and visually appealing.

Key Responsibilities

Building Maintenance:

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of buildings, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and structural components.
• Complete minor repairs such as fixing leaks, patching walls, or replacing damaged fixtures.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness in public areas, restrooms, and offices.
• Coordinate with contractors for specialized maintenance or repairs.
• Maintain an inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment required for building upkeep.

Grounds Maintenance:

• Snow removal and lawn maintenance is done by outside contractor. Shovel paths as needed.
• Inspect and maintain outdoor structures like fences, signage, and playground equipment.
• Ensure proper irrigation and watering of plants and lawns.

Safety and Compliance:

• Conduct safety inspections of facilities and grounds to identify potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and codes related to building and grounds maintenance.
• Respond promptly to emergency repair requests.
• Maintain clear pathways and adhere to fire safety protocols.

Administrative Tasks:

• Maintain records of maintenance activities and schedules.
• Report any major repair needs or safety concerns to the supervisor.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of events or projects requiring facility support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED); technical training preferred

• Proven experience in building and grounds maintenance or a related field.

• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and landscaping techniques.

• Ability to operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment safely.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Physical ability to lift heavy objects, work in varying weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.

• Physical ability to climb on ladders

• Valid driver’s license may be required.
