Assistant General Counsel Cyber
The ideal candidate for this role in AIG’s Data, Digital and Cyber Legal Group will be a strategy-oriented attorney who embraces a dynamic advisory practice. You will craft legal solutions that protect AIG from a complex set of risks presented by cutting edge cybersecurity, privacy, and data issues, while simultaneously moving AIG’s business forward.
In this role, you will support AIG’s businesses and corporate functions by:
• Advising on legal, regulatory, and contractual issues regarding cybersecurity, privacy, and data governance issues across AIG’s Americas regions;
• Drafting and maintaining cybersecurity and privacy contract templates and assisting in contract negotiations with clients, vendors, and partners;
• Supporting incident response and investigation matters, ensuring compliance with applicable law;
• Identifying and analyzing new laws, regulations, and industry best practices in the cybersecurity, privacy, and data areas, and working with cross-functional teams to implement necessary governance and controls;
• Developing and supporting initiatives to enhance and mature cybersecurity, privacy, and data governance practices across AIG; and
• Serving as a thought leader in the community on specialized legal and regulatory topics for internal and external stakeholders, including industry groups.
The successful candidate will:
• Have a J.D. degree from an accredited U.S. law school and license to practice law.
• Have 5+ years of experience as an attorney.
• Have experience either in-house, at a law firm, law enforcement, or governmental agency advising on legal and regulatory issues around cybersecurity, privacy, and data (GLBA, HIPAA, CCPA, NYDFS).
• Have excellent drafting and communication skills.
• Be collaborative, nimble, responsive, and customer-focused.
• CIPP-US Certification preferred.
• Government agency experience preferred.
For roles in New York, the base salary range for this position is $136,000-$170,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
